Alpine flora in bloom is guaranteed, plus snow on high ground and the chance to
observe chamois, mouflons and marmots, and to take some good nature photos.
This trekking tour takes us by the most beautiful lakes and scenery in the
Pyrenees mountains region between
Carlit and Ax-les-Thermes.
There
are also a couple of bears living in the area we cross, and with a bit of luck
we'll come find some of their tracks.

Day
1, 2 and 3 : In to the southern part of the Lanous Reserve
: Meeting point is Hospitalet
près l'Andorre Railway station 9 o'clock (night train from Paris arrives
here at 8) Transfer by car to our starting point. (1600M) Garcie valley,
Lake Coume d'Or, Lake Lanous (2230m) through some wild lonely valleys now
full of blooming flowers strolling trying not to scare the marmots - they
just got their babies now - from outlook to even more beautiful view looking
for a nice places to put up our tent somewhere underneath peak Castel Isard
where live the chamois (called Isard here) near a lake or clear mountain
stream. As evening comes we go for a walk looking for chamois and moufflons
(wild sheep) until the darks invites us to our tent.
Hiking
along
Lanous across some less know pass off
the paths and along sheep trails to the blue lakes between peak de
la coumetta d'Espagna and the Grave valley.

Day
4, 5 and 6: To the area of outstanding Natural Beauty (Site Classé)
Camporelles : Hiking landscape
is different here looks more like a "canadian" mixture of high
meadows, woods and hidden mountain lake. We camp near the calm and
beautiful main lake or overnight in the open hut (2240M) here.
Climbing
peak Peric (2810M), with just what we need for the day.
Exploring cool Cirque de Morties,(up to 2500M), de la Caiche
pass, Estany del Diable the Devils Lake. It's full of flowers here, this
is really spring in the high mountain, lots of yellow, blue, white and
some red flowers : pulsatilas, anemones, gentians and lesser know lilies
and orchis. In the higher valleys Chamois moms left the herd to get
their lambs so we don't make to much noise, probably we're the only
people walking up here now. |
