Terms of Condition

(read this carefully it's not the usual blablabla)

Summary :

Everyone can become a member, paying the membership fee is accepting these terms of condition. One can subscribe for one year only. The number of members is limited to the number of possible participants in our  hikes and the capacity of our house.

Membership starts for a full year the day membership fee is on the group account.

What we pay is a membership fee + participation in costs it is not hiring a guide, a house or any other service.

Membership fees are not refundable but of course if for some reason we cannot participate in the hike or stay we chose we can join in any other as long as there is place left.

Family Membership and Group Membership fees include a 2 weeks stay in the house or joining in a 2 weeks trekking during summer period. Individual Membership fee only trekking.

All fees further allow  free access to our self catering guesthouse at members for up to 10 weeks maximum during other seasons at member conditions.

General rule is : those who did not have yet have priority on those who already got.

Adventurous and save Hiking :

Richard our mountain leader is a benevolent, he is not paid so if for some reason we have to or wish to stay in a guarded hut his room and board is at charge of the group.

Our hikes are high level route mountain trekking as much as possible far from beaten paths and into the wilder and more beautiful parts of the Pyrenees mountains. In winter snow shoe hikes can be organized on demand.

There are some specific security conditions to participate in such trekking : don't sign up for hikes that are not your level. You can't participate if you've knee problems, overweight, dizziness, fear of height, if you need to take any drugs or if your gear is not mountain proof.

Hiking Mountain Retreat need specific commitment : you commit yourself to retreat far from and out of view of other participants into solitude in a wild country. You commit yourself to silence on those retreat days and not to contact other participants. This implies you are on your own for several days and demands carefulness and autonomy.

Any  high mountain trekking is and adventurous and hazardous experience with possible dangers. Participation is at your own risks.

It's live saving to be vaccinated against tetanus and to have a travel insurance including mountain research and rescue, if you don't have that vaccination and insurance resulting costs are at your charge only.

If for any reason you cannot continue we guide you to the nearest guarded hut. From there you'll have to organize your return by yourself at your own costs of course the guardian will help you.

More experienced participants commit themselves to teach their skills to the less experienced.

At arrival you pay a deposit, 100€ per week intended stay. This is refunded after deduction of energy and cleaning costs and possible damage at the end of your stay.  

Although we love them pets are not allowed.

There are no sheets or blankets : you need to bring your sleeping bags.

Everyone behaves as an elder in the house, with consideration of other members even if we don't know them all : you replace a broken lamp, mow the grass if you prefer it short etc.

The day before leaving, make sure everything works as it should. Even if you don't meet them make it a case of honour that other members find everything OK.

Pay the 0,15€ per Kw for electricity, gas and water. (If you need spare gas during your stay, buy it yourself and deduce costs). More wood is at market price.

Except during summer period members can invite non members at 5€ per overnight.

Democratic management :

This is a members run charity a club of friends of the Pyrenees mountains. It's non profit and no one is paid. Since "founding fathers" are Belgian our group is registered as a small non-profit organization according to Belgian law. Our income is limited to membership fees and Dutch language courses.

Our annual budget is consequently small. After paying rent, taxes and other fixed costs this leaves a budget of about 1.000€ a year. Our house is consequently simple although there is everything you need. (If you can afford it, don't hesitate to donate)

First 3 years of membership are novice-membership without voting rights. Full membership (including voting right) can be acquired after 3 years of ongoing membership.
